Carpet Usage Instructions and Care Guide
Our valued customer,
Thank you for choosing Pera Halı. To ensure your carpet maintains its elegance and quality for many years to come, we strongly recommend that you follow the care and maintenance instructions below.
1. General Cleaning and Maintenance
Regular cleaning is essential to extend the life of your Pera Carpet product. Regular maintenance prevents dirt and stains from settling in, minimizes wear and tear caused by dust between the fibers, and preserves your carpet's original shine.
-
Vacuuming: Vacuum the entire surface of your carpet at least twice a week, depending on how frequently it's used. It's important to vacuum slowly and in the direction of the carpet's pile (yarn) to maintain its shape.
-
Beating and Flapping: In order to prevent damage to the structure of your carpet, it should never be beaten or hit with hard objects.
-
Shaggy Carpets: For our shaggy type long pile carpets, turning the carpet upside down before vacuuming will make cleaning easier by removing the dust stuck between the fibers.
2. Stain Treatment and Washing
-
Liquid Spills: If a liquid spills on your carpet, it must be dealt with immediately. The liquid should be absorbed immediately (without rubbing) by dabbing it with a paper towel or absorbent cloth.
-
Stain Removal: Test any stain removal product on an inconspicuous corner of the carpet first. After treating the stain, comb the pile fibers with a soft-bristled brush, ensuring they stand upright.
-
Cleaning Products: Harsh chemicals such as bleach, hydrochloric acid, hard surface cleaners, or detergents should never be used on Pera Carpet products. These substances will corrode the carpet fabric and cause irreversible damage.
-
Cleaning: Your carpet should only be cleaned with carpet shampoo foam. Leaving shampoo water on the carpet can react with sunlight and cause yellowing; therefore, rinse thoroughly and avoid leaving it damp.
-
Drying: After cleaning, your carpet should be dried quickly. We recommend drying it in a warm environment, with the base of the carpet facing the sun.
3. Usage Environment and Protection
-
Traces of Items: Avoid using sharp or heavy objects on the carpet. If the pile fibers are crushed under the weight, you should first brush them with a soft brush and then vacuum them. Moving items periodically will prevent deformation.
-
Sunlight: Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can cause color changes on your rug. It's recommended to use curtains or rotate the rug periodically in sunny areas.
-
Heat Contact: Protect the carpet surface from hot substances such as iron, hot tea or boiling water.
4. Recommendations Based on Product Features
-
Acrylic Carpets: Some initial lint (lint) shedding is normal for our acrylic yarn products. Regular vacuuming will quickly reduce this to almost nothing.
-
Viscose and Cotton-Containing Rugs: Pera Halı products containing natural fibers (viscose, cotton, rayon) are sensitive to water. They should be wiped with a damp cloth rather than washed directly with water.
-
Polypropylene and Polyester: It is recommended to use carpets made of this yarn type in areas with less traffic due to their fiber structure to prevent felting.
-
Natural and Leather Rugs: In our leather rugs produced from natural materials, there may be slight differences in color and size, which are a result of their naturalness.
-
Color Tone: Color tone may vary between different production lots or between the product displayed in-store and the new product. When purchasing carpets to be used side by side, it is recommended to lay the products side by side to check.
5. Storage and Transportation
When you need to move or store your rug, never fold it ; always store it rolled. Make sure the storage area is free of moisture and away from direct sunlight.
Note: Pera Halı products do not have a standard stain-resistant feature. For stubborn stains, we recommend seeking help from a professional carpet cleaning company.
