How can you identify a hand-woven carpet?

Turn the rug over. In machine-made rugs, the back is flawless and perfectly smooth. In hand-woven rugs, however, the knots are clearly visible, and the pattern on the back is just as clear as on the front. Also, the edge stitching (overlock) is hand-knitted, not machine-stitched.

How should it be cleaned?

Absolutely no chemical detergents, bleach, or hot water should be used. Vacuum in the direction of the fibers using the brushless attachment of a vacuum cleaner. The washing process should only be entrusted to professional "Handwoven Carpet Cleaning" specialists.

Is it suitable for homes with pets?

Hand-woven rugs (especially wool ones) are quite durable. However, instead of very delicate fabrics like silk, which can be easily scratched by cats, more tightly knotted wool rugs may be preferable.
